Weddings and Special Occasions

I enjoy playing for weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, christenings and other celebrations.  Harp music is truly beautiful and is the perfect way to make a happy occasion special and memorable.

I am very happy to be flexible and will listen to your particular needs and ideas.  Some of the options I offer are outlined below:

Choice of Music

I would be pleased to discuss your requirements and ideas with you - whether you have a favourite song or style of music or whether you would like me to make suitable suggestions.  I offer a range of music, from classical pieces through to traditional folk tunes, light pop and music from the shows.

Concert Harp or Clarsach?

I offer a choice between concert harp and clarsach.  My concert harp has a walnut frame, stands at around 6 foot tall and is very beautiful.  This is a good choice for formal occasions as it makes an instant impact!

The clarsach is a smaller instrument.  It is made from a light-coloured wood and is very attractive.  The clarsach is a good choice if you like traditional folk tunes.  The clarsach is also suitable for smaller venues.  Both harps have a beautiful tone.

Solo or Ensemble?

The harp works well as a solo instrument and this makes it a good choice if you are working with a tight budget (there is only one musician to pay!) or if there is limited space in your venue (there is only one musician to find space for!).  However, I also enjoy playing with other musicians and am happy to work with singers, violin players or other musicians.  Please feel free to contact me to discuss any ideas or requirements.

How to Incorporate Harp Music into your Day

Background music helps to create a special atmosphere while guests remain relaxed and are happy to continue chatting.  Background music is effective during a meal, a drinks reception or as guests are arriving.  Most styles of music can work well as background music.

Alternatively you may prefer a short recital.  This can be effective when there is a break in proceedings or to create a sense of expectation.  For example, as a bride walks up the aisle, prior to after-dinner speeches or during the signing of the register in a marriage ceremony.  Classical pieces or traditional folk tunes work best at these points.  Possible times to include music during a wedding day include:
